Birdhouse Booklet Giveaway!

It's about time I offered a blog giveaway, dontchya think? For my first blog giveaway, I'm offering two of my new little birdhouse booklets. You can see more about how I made them here, at the Handmade Artist blog on Poppytalk Handmade. If you would like to be entered for a chance to win one, please leave a comment below before 9:00 am CST next Friday morning, April 3, 2009. I'll pick a topic: your favorite thing about... spring! { Seeing as we're expecting something like 8 inches of snow here tonight, I'm going to have to use my imagination. :) }

I will use a random number generator to pick the two winners on Friday morning. I'll post the names of the winners at that time, so don't forget to check back then. Thanks for participating!

  1. Beautiful little books. I just found your site via Aimee's.

    My favorite thing about Spring... the change from winter. I seem to like the beginnings of each new season best. I guess I like change.

  2. Beautiful and love the craftsmanship of it all!
    My favourite thing about spring is that in Vancouver the cherry blossoms lining the streets start to come out at the end of March:)

  3. Thanks for walking us through your process over at the poppytalk blog! Very cool! Getting a metal die made looks fancy, difficult and oh so expensive to an art quilter like me whose never really thought too much about this whole letterpress thing!

  7. Hi Christy!

    What a fun discussion topic! My favorite thing about spring is when I see the first new shoots of plants emerge, especially in my gardens. I like keeping track of the general order and progression of things and seeing if I can identify the plants (it can be tricky sometimes, and I never fail to allow some lucky weeds to prosper because they just might be, well, NOT weeds). The native grasses are especially exciting -- I'm still keeping an eye out for those bright pointy shoots. Perhaps they sensed the snowstorm coming and decided to wait it out?

  8. Christy, I just found your blog by way of Rice, Roz, and Aimee. You make delightful books! My favorite thing about spring is how EXCITED everything in the great out-of-doors seems. The birds twittering away attracting their prospective mates, the vibrancy of the greens starting to appear, the flower buds just bursting to bloom in the cherry trees, those silly daffodils that want to 'be first' every year...the promise that another long, cold winter will be edged out by a subtly shifting sun. Now I'm excited..thinking 'bout summer!

  9. The booklets are lovely, and I loved reading about your process for making them. As to spring, I love walking out my front door to see the daffodils in our front yard. Three years ago, my husband and I planted a couple of hundred bulbs, and the hard work was worth it. Seeing the profusion of yellow and white never falls to bring a smile to my face.

  12. My absolute favorite sign that Spring is approaching, is when hear that first bird chirp, that one bird who lets me know that Winter is on it's last leg out and leaving, and Spring is just around the corner..Hooray!

  16. Love those - I popped over from Arsyville! How fun that you both live in Lawrence, and you both contribute to funkytown!
    Did you get the 8 inches of snow, here in SW MO we got 1/2 inch and it was gone the next day. That's one of the things i love about spring - even if it snows you know it won't last.

  17. My favourite thing(s) about Spring are the signs of green in the snow; the first chirp I hear from the robins and running through the open field.

  18. Averill and Calder wanted to be a part of this, so I'm writing on their behalf.

    Averill's favorite things are being able to wear no jacket (hmmm, of course as you know she does this at the drop of a hat, spring or no spring!) and having picnics outside on the picnic bench.

    Calder's favorite things are making a new hideout in the field and helping with the gardening. This spring, she's also looking forward to zooming around on her new scooter.

  19. Growing grass and blossoms, hearing new birds, and rising after the sun.
